So what happened…?

July 8, 2010

I’m still alive, and about once every other month I check this thing and am amazed that its reporting more traffic than it ever had while I was active.  There are two posts I would like to do soon, one is the Eva post for the 2nd movie, and the other is about AX2010.

The lack of activity though can be traced to:
1) having a full time job.
And
2) having a Facebook account.  Usually my posts originated from wanting to tell /somebody/ what I thought was cool, and FB fills thaw void well enough with MAL forums completing the process.

Truthfully the reason behind this post is almost as much testing out the WordPress app for Android as it is anything else.

Anyways, I’m excited for this new season of Anime that is upon us, and I hope to post again soon…. or at least within the next month.

Kurokami 01 …… IN ENGLISH!?!???? *Update 2

January 16, 2009

I’ve been a bit busy recently, mostly playing video games I guess. Anyways, I haven’t yet watched all the new shows that started this winter, only a select few. (For those wondering Maria+Holic’s 02 has solidified the show on my must watch list)
This morning I went out in search of some of the shows I still need to watch, and one of the ones I had a bit of hope for was Kurokami. Coming to us from Sunrise, and looking rather nice while doing it.

kkinenglish
That’s when I found this (The torrent above and a DD megaupload link).  Current status is that I’m downloading this along with a sub version, and will report my findings as soon as I can. I really wish I could know if this is a fandub or what.

According to ANN, the show is already licensed, and there are english VA already chosen. But did they really already release a dub?!??  And I thought Funi’s subbing of Shikabane Hime was a new level of speed.

*Update:

Looks like ANN, in fact has a news article that Bandai is airing the English version on iaTV 8 hours after the Japanese air time. I have to admit, that’s pretty cool.

For anyone who hasn’t heard of Kurokami yet, check out the trailer!

Update 2:

Watched the english dub, it’s ok, but I won’t be watching it over the subbed version. Still pretty cool that they have it already dubbed though.

.Hack//Link Coming to a PSP near YOU! *Update

January 14, 2009

Believe it or not, .hack isn’t over yet.

The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmation on the next video game episode long-running, but niche appealing .hack series from CyberConnect. .hack//LINK is making the jump from manga to the PSP in 2009.(Source: Kotaku)

This rates at the top of my Fanboy Scale here, a multiplayer .hack game based on one of the many .hack manga? Tell me where to send the money to make sure this game gets localized. We never got Fragment, we deserve this.

*Update:

Found some magazine scans from the Famitsu article on this game. Loaded them to the blog, just click to see the full size.

Kannagi’s Mangaka Calls in Sick. ~UPDATE!

December 8, 2008

*Update* ANN reports that Eri Takenashi the mangaka for Kannagi has underwent surgery and is currently recovering with plans to get back to work.  You can read my original post below.

Eri Takenashi(Kannagi) has joined Katsura Hoshino(D.Gray-Man), and Yoshihiro Togashi(Hunter X Hunter) in their hiatus of undetermined length.img_75806015

But that isn’t the interesting thing, Kannagi has recently fallen under attack when the December chapter of the manga revealed that Nagi had an ex-boyfriend in the past. For many this brought into question her virginity, which I guess is incredibly important to them, there are some who have even taken this so far as to say that Nagi must be a slut and have renounced the manga saying that they now hate it and won’t be supporting it any further.

nagitheslut1But now we have all sorts of doujinshi on the way.

The timing of this hiatus right on the tail of a huge upset in the fanbase leaves me wondering if the mangaka has actually been receiving threats. It’s happened before, I remember all the stories for the Evangelion series, that you can actually see some of the death threats that were sent, in the End of Eva movie. And I personally hope that things aren’t that bad for her. The anime has been doing well, and I have been totally loving it.

And thanks to this hiatus a whole new slew of rumors and attacks seem to be popping up. I just want to say, it’s pretty obvious that she’s already been kicked to the ground, do we really need to keep going? There are so many rumors flying around now that the manga will be ending prematurely or even canceled thanks to this stuff already. I just think enough is enough, let her take the break without all this abuse (even from the US side of the internet), and see what happens.

ALI PROJECT Supports Sora Kake Girl

December 3, 2008

sora-kake-girl

I’m usually so much more on top of these types of things. OK that’s a lie. But still, after making an entrance by making the show’s project title sound like one of my favorite movies was enough to catch my attention. Sora Kake Girl, previously known as “Sora o Kakeru Shōjo” which translated to “The Girl Who Leapt Through Space” has some real information behind it now.

The biggest, in my opinion, is of course that ALI PROJECT is providing the OP. I love their music, first noticed this fact back in .hack//Roots, then flourished in Rozen Maiden and Code Geass. Anyways, there is more to the news than just who’s providing the OP.

We have Aya Endo, who just gave us a wonderful performance as Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier, will be voicing Itsuki Kannagi.

Mako (II), she doesn’t have a long list of roles, but she was Yurie Hitotsubashi from Kamichu! and that’s more than enough for me to already love her, she’ll be voicing Akiha Shishidō

The last of the trio, Yui Makino, who I believe would be best known as Sakura from Tsubasa (not CCS though), will be voicing Honoka Kawai

And of course, the three of them will also be performing the ED song. I wonder if they’ll dance…..? OH also Minmay defense, I mean common, you have Sheryl Nome’s VA, in space, it would be a crime if they didn’t play that up.

One thing I can’t find about the show is when it’s to start, I would currently think that it’ll start Spring of 09 when Kuro Kami (Black God) ends (if it ends, no episode count yet), but can’t find anything that can actually support that.

PS. Why isn’t this anime on MAL yet?

Megaten Closed Beta Participants Selected

December 2, 2008

megaten

I found this gem in my junkmail, stupid yahoo mail. I’m thinking either no one else tried for it, or my luck is ever so slowly increasing. In either case, I’ll be trying this thing out while I still feel special for getting accepted and hope that it doesn’t become a Flyff on me.

ALSO from the looks of it the beta signups are still being accepted. And if I got in anyone should find no problem in doing so.

Though be prepared, the download for the installer is 1.3GB, then the actual install is like 3.2GB.

I’ve only completed the two sets of tutorial levels so far and have just started Act 1.  I have a feeling that there is going to be a strong case of everyone looks the same, for at least the first part of the game. More thoughts to come after I actually finish a real quest I think.

Bargin Bin Anime Blow Out!

November 21, 2008

Misaki image

Just thought I’d send out a little FYI, if your into buying anime, or buying your friends/family anime. You should think about checking out Right Stuf International’s Bargin Bin Blow Out.

It’s mostly filled with Geneon’s no longer supported stuff. But you can find some pretty awesome deals in there, including all 4 DVDs of S.E.Lain (just talked about that show yesterday), and most DVDs of plenty of other shows at very low prices.  And these are on top of the DelRay 33% off that’s going on right now, the always great weekly specials and the rarely good but every now and then you’ll find a gem Shawn’s Daily Deals.  So go see if there’s anything out there that you might be interested in. I already bought a set of DVDs to give out as presents, and pre-ordered some manga for myself.

And now that I’ve spent all this time advertising for no profit (I’m doing it to try and help support the deing industry), I shall go back and try working on getting my review of Detective Conan’s 12th movie out.
